Most of the parents of Montessori students had very different educational experiences then our students experience in a Montessori classroom. This workshop offers examples of successful parent education nights about the general Montessori philosophy, and more specifically how to explain to parents how mathematics, language arts, and culture are taught in Montessori classrooms.
Melissa Krahn has taught in public Montessori classrooms in BC for over 15 years. She has a B.A. and B.Ed. from UBC, AMS Montessori training (ages 6-12) from VTI, and a Masters in Montessori Education from St. Catherine's University. She has been a teacher sponsor for three student teachers in the UBC Montessori cohort. She is currently the Conference Chair on the BC Montessori PSA executive.
